This privacy policy explains what information the game Drop Shop handles, who handles it, and the choices you have. It covers Drop Shop for Android (on Google Play) and the web version you play in a browser. Drop Shop for iPhone and iPad isn't out yet: we will review and update this policy before it is released, and the notes about iPhone and iPad below describe how it is planned to work.

Drop Shop is made by Soggy Socks (previously known as Wet Socks Games and Wet Socks Inc), an independent game studio in Idaho, United States ("we", "us"). Questions? Email wetsocksqueries@gmail.com.

The short version

  • No email, no password. We never ask for your email address or your real name. Your progress and settings are saved on your device.
  • Ads (Android app): Drop Shop shows ads from Google AdMob. Google's ads software collects device information, such as your IP address and advertising ID, to show and measure ads. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland you choose whether ads may be personalized, and you can change that at any time in SETTINGS > PRIVACY CHOICES.
  • Online leaderboards: on Android, if you have a Google Play Games profile, the game signs you in with it automatically and posts your best scores to online leaderboards that run on Unity Gaming Services. Your Play Games name and your scores are shown to all players. Without a Play Games profile, nothing is posted.
  • Web version: no ads and nothing to sign in to. You can look at the leaderboards (the game connects to them anonymously), but you can't post to them.
  • Delete your online data at any time: in the Android app, LEADERBOARD > DELETE ONLINE ACCOUNT stops the game posting from your device at once and opens your deletion request email to us. Without the game, follow the steps at soggysocks.dev/games/drop-shop/delete-data/.
  • We don't sell your personal information for money, and leaderboard data is never used for ads.

Who we are

Soggy Socks is an independent game studio in Idaho, United States. We make and publish Drop Shop.

For the leaderboard data and the messages you send us, we are the ones responsible for your data (in EU and UK terms, the "controller"). Together with Google, we are also responsible for the decision to use Google's ads and consent tools in the game. Google is separately responsible for the data that its own software in the game collects for its own purposes (ads, the consent message and Google Play Games).

To reach us about anything in this policy, email wetsocksqueries@gmail.com.

What the game saves on your device

The game keeps the following in its own storage on your device, so you can pick up where you left off:

  • settings: sound and music volume, ball speed, tap to drop, screen shake, CRT filter and vibration
  • stats: best level, best scores, runs played and won, pegs hit, balls dropped
  • progress: experience, stars, player level, achievements, unlocked and selected cosmetics, tutorial status, and which items and updates you have already seen
  • a run in progress, if you leave mid-run
  • daily challenge results: best score, best level and streak
  • while a NO ADS 30 MIN break is running, the time it ends
  • leaderboard sign-in, once the game has signed you in to the leaderboards (automatically on Android with Google Play Games, or when you open the LEADERBOARD screen): your online player ID, your leaderboard name, which scores were already sent, and the session that keeps you signed in. Unity's software also creates a random installation ID that stays on your device; the features Drop Shop uses don't send it anywhere.
  • a "stop posting" note, if you used DELETE ONLINE ACCOUNT, so the game no longer posts from that device (it stays through RESET PROGRESS)

Apart from what the leaderboards need (your player ID and sign-in session, your leaderboard name, your scores and the daily challenge's date, see Online leaderboards), none of this is sent to us or to anyone else.

Daily challenge: each day's puzzle is generated on your device from the date. If your scores are posted to the leaderboards, today's daily score is posted too.

Achievements and your collection exist only inside the game. They are not sent anywhere.

Device backup (Android): if Android's backup is turned on, Android may copy the game's save, including the leaderboard sign-in details above, to your own Google Account backup so it can be restored on a new phone. Google runs that backup for you, and we can't access it.

Web version: the save is kept in your browser's storage for the game's website. See Web version and our websites.

Advertising (Google AdMob)

The Android app (and the iPhone and iPad app, once released) is free and supported by ads from Google AdMob. The web version has no ads. You may see:

  • a banner ad,
  • full-screen ads between rounds, and
  • optional rewarded ads, which you choose to watch for an in-game bonus (for example to continue a ball or double a reward).

To show ads, measure how they perform and prevent fraud, the Google Mobile Ads software built into the game automatically collects the following and shares it with Google:

  • IP address, which can be used to estimate your general location (your city or region, not your exact position)
  • app and ad interactions, such as app launches, taps and ad or video views
  • diagnostic information about how the app and the ads software perform, such as launch time, hang rate and energy use
  • device identifiers: your device's advertising ID, the app set ID and, where applicable, other identifiers related to accounts signed in on the device

Google and its advertising partners may place or read cookies and similar identifiers on your device, use web beacons, and use your IP address to serve and measure ads. Google may share this information with other advertising companies that help deliver or measure ads. Where the law requires your consent, that happens only as you allow in the consent message, which lists those partners. The data is sent encrypted (TLS/HTTPS). On newer Android versions, Google's ads software may also use Android's Privacy Sandbox ad features (such as Topics and attribution reporting), which you can manage in your device's ad privacy settings.

We don't give Google anything of our own for ads. No name, player ID, scores or other gameplay data go with an ad request. Each request only says which of our ad slots is being filled.

Personalized and non-personalized ads. Personalized ads are chosen using information about you, such as your activity in other apps and websites. Non-personalized ads are chosen from context, such as the app you are using and your general location. Even for non-personalized ads, Google may still use data to limit how often you see an ad, for ad reporting, and to prevent fraud and abuse.

Google handles this data under its own policies:

If you play the Android app in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the game shows Google's consent message before any ads load. In it, you choose whether Google and its advertising partners may store and access information on your device and use your data for personalized ads.

You can change your choice at any time: open SETTINGS (the gear on the title screen, or SETTINGS in the pause menu) and tap PRIVACY CHOICES. This button appears whenever Google's consent message applies where you are. If you don't consent to personalized ads, you may still see non-personalized or limited ads.

Each time the app starts, it checks with Google's consent service which message, if any, applies where you are. That check sends Google your IP address and basic information about your device and the app.

Online leaderboards

Drop Shop has three online leaderboards: DAILY (today's daily challenge), BEST LEVEL and BEST BALL (your best single-ball score). They run on Unity Gaming Services (Unity Authentication, Player Names and Leaderboards), provided by Unity Technologies, which processes this data on our behalf. On Android, sign-in uses Google Play Games.

On Android, with a Google Play Games profile

  • Automatic sign-in. When the game starts, Google Play Games signs you in automatically if you have a Play Games profile on your device (Google may show a small banner when it does). The game then gets a one-time sign-in code from Google Play Games and passes it to Unity. Unity checks the code with Google and gives you an online player ID linked to your Google Play Games player ID. If you aren't signed in, the SIGN IN WITH GOOGLE PLAY GAMES button on the LEADERBOARD screen lets you sign in. After you use DELETE ONLINE ACCOUNT on a device, the game skips this step there (see Your choice).
  • Your name. Your Play Games display name becomes your leaderboard name. The game tidies it up first (plain letters and numbers, spaces, "-" and "." only, at most 16 characters; "Player" if nothing is left). Unity adds a short number tag to it (such as #1234), which the game doesn't show.
  • Your scores. The game posts your best level, your best single-ball score and today's daily challenge score (with its date). The first time, it posts the bests already in your save; after that, new bests are sent automatically after a run or when you return to the title screen.
  • What other players see: your leaderboard name, rank and scores. The game shows the top 10 of each board, and each player also sees their own place. But the leaderboard service lets anyone using the game, including the web version, read a whole board: each entry's leaderboard name, rank, score, online player ID and when it was last updated.

Without Play Games, on the web, and on iPhone and iPad

If you open the LEADERBOARD screen without a Play Games profile (on Android without one, in the web version, and on iPhone and iPad until they support leaderboards), the game signs in to Unity anonymously with a random player ID, only to show you the boards. No name and no scores are posted. Without a Play Games profile, the game contacts Unity only when you open the LEADERBOARD screen.

What Unity and we receive

  • Unity receives your player ID, the link to your Google Play Games player ID (Android), your leaderboard name and your scores, and, as with any online service, your IP address with each request. Everything is sent encrypted (HTTPS). Unity uses this data only to run the leaderboards for us, which includes measuring how its service performs and showing us usage statistics (such as player counts) in its dashboard.
  • We can see players' IDs, names and scores, and basic account information such as when an account was created, in Unity's dashboard. We use this only to run the leaderboards and to handle deletion requests.
  • We don't receive your email address, your Google Account password or other account details, your contacts or your Play Games friends. We don't use leaderboard data for ads or for anything other than the leaderboards.
  • Unity's privacy policy: unity.com/legal/privacy-policy.

Google Play Games

Google Play Games is a Google service. Its software is part of the Android app and starts with it, whether or not you use the leaderboards. Google says it automatically collects usage (analytics) and diagnostic data to keep its software stable and to improve it, and your Play Games profile (gamer name and avatar) when you create or update it. Google handles this under its own privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy. You can see, change or delete your Play Games profile and its data at play.google.com/games/profile or in your Google Account at myaccount.google.com.

How we use data from Google Play Games

From Google Play Games we receive only your Play Games display name (in the app) and, through Unity's sign-in check, your Play Games player ID. We use them only to run the leaderboards: to sign you in, to keep your scores under one account, and to show your name next to your scores. We share them only with Unity, which runs the leaderboards for us, and your name is shown to other players on the boards. We don't sell this data, and we don't use it for advertising or to build profiles. It is sent encrypted, kept until we delete your online account at your request or close the leaderboards, and you can have it deleted at any time (see Deleting your online data). Drop Shop's use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Your choice

The whole game plays the same without a Google Play Games profile, and then nothing is posted. With a profile, your scores are posted automatically. To stop that, open the LEADERBOARD screen (the LEADERBOARD button on the title screen) and tap DELETE ONLINE ACCOUNT. From then on, the game no longer signs in to the leaderboards with your Play Games account or posts anything from that device, also after RESET PROGRESS (opening the LEADERBOARD only connects anonymously, to show the boards), and it opens an email to us with your player ID filled in so we can delete your account and scores (see Deleting your online data). To post again later, tap SIGN IN WITH GOOGLE PLAY GAMES on the LEADERBOARD screen. Uninstalling the game or clearing its storage also removes that "stop posting" note, and the game then posts again the next time it signs you in.

Web version and our websites

  • Hosting. The web version of Drop Shop and our websites, including soggysocks.dev, are served through Cloudflare. Like any web server, it receives your IP address, your browser and device type, the page you asked for and the time, so that it can deliver the pages and protect them from attacks. We may see traffic statistics and, in security logs, IP addresses; we don't use them to identify you. Cloudflare's privacy policy: www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/.
  • No ads and no tracking. The web version has no ads, no consent message, no account to sign in to, no analytics and no third-party scripts, and we don't set cookies. (Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary security cookie if it has to check that a visitor isn't a bot.)
  • Your save is kept in your browser's storage for the game's site. Your browser also keeps a copy of the game's files so the game loads faster and works offline, and the game may ask your browser not to clear this storage automatically. To delete all of it, clear the site's data in your browser's settings.
  • Leaderboards on the web are view-only: opening the LEADERBOARD signs in anonymously (see above), and nothing is posted.
  • On soggysocks.dev, your browser remembers your light or dark mode choice if you use the switch. On the Drop Shop page, the trailer loads from YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com) only after you press play; from then on, Google's privacy policy applies to the video.

Sharing a result card

When you tap SHARE at the end of a run, the game draws a picture of that run (level, scores, charms and board, with no name or ID) and hands it to your device's share menu. It goes only where you choose to send it. The game itself uploads nothing.

  • Android: no permission is needed. The picture is kept in the game's private cache (one file, replaced each time).
  • Web: your browser's share menu, or a download of the picture if your browser can't share files.
  • iPhone and iPad (when released): choosing Save Image in the share menu asks for your permission to add the picture to your Photos. The game can't see your photos.

What we don't do

  • No purchases. The game has no in-app purchases. The NO ADS 30 MIN button in Settings lets you watch one rewarded ad to turn off the banner and the ads between rounds for 30 minutes; optional rewarded ads stay available. Its timer is stored only on your device. If we add purchases, we will update this policy first.
  • No analytics or tracking tools of our own. Apart from the leaderboards, our own code doesn't send any data to any server.
  • No access to your location (GPS), camera, microphone, contacts, photos or files. On iPhone and iPad, the game can only add a picture you chose to save.
  • No chat and no user-created content. The only things other players can see are your leaderboard name (from Google Play Games), rank and scores, and the random online player ID that goes with them.
  • We don't read your advertising ID or other device identifiers ourselves. Only Google's software (ads and Play Games) collects device identifiers; Unity's software creates a random installation ID that stays on your device.
  • We don't sell your personal information for money, and we don't build profiles about you.

Who receives your data

  • Google (Google LLC and its affiliates): for ads, the consent message and Google Play Games. Google decides for itself how it uses this data, under its own policies.
  • Unity Technologies: runs the leaderboards for us as our service provider (a "processor" in EU and UK terms). It may use its own providers, such as cloud hosting, to do that.
  • Cloudflare: hosts our websites and the web version for us.
  • Other players: see your leaderboard name, rank and scores, and can read the online player ID that goes with them.
  • Authorities or others, if the law requires it, or when needed to protect players, the game or our rights.
  • A new owner: if Drop Shop is ever transferred to another company, your data would pass to it under this policy, and we would tell you.

We only work with companies whose terms commit them to protect personal data at least as well as this policy describes.

If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, these are our legal reasons for using your data:

PurposeLegal basis
Storing or reading information on your device for ads, and personalized adsYour consent, given in Google's consent message. You can withdraw it at any time in PRIVACY CHOICES.
Non-personalized ads, ad measurement and fraud preventionLegitimate interests: keeping the game free and protecting it from fraud. You can object in the consent message.
Online leaderboards: sign-in, posting scores and showing your nameLegitimate interests: offering shared leaderboards as part of the game you chose to play. You can object at any time: LEADERBOARD > DELETE ONLINE ACCOUNT stops the game posting from your device, or email us.
Hosting and protecting our websites and the web versionLegitimate interests: delivering pages safely.
Answering your emails and privacy requestsLegitimate interests in helping you, and our legal obligations for privacy requests.

Google is responsible for the legal basis of what it does with the data its software collects for its own purposes.

You don't have to give us any personal data to play: the game works without a Google Play Games profile (your scores just aren't posted). We don't make decisions about you based only on automated processing that have legal or similarly significant effects.

Keeping and deleting your data

  • Your game save stays on your device until you delete it. SETTINGS > RESET PROGRESS erases your progress, stats, unlocks, saved run, settings and the leaderboard sign-in the game remembers on that device (but keeps the "stop posting" note from DELETE ONLINE ACCOUNT). It doesn't delete your online account or scores (see below), and it doesn't change your ad consent choice (use PRIVACY CHOICES for that). Uninstalling the game, or clearing its storage (Android Settings > Apps > Drop Shop > Storage > Clear storage), removes everything the game saved on your device, including your ad consent choice. If Android's backup is on, reinstalling the game may restore the save from your own backup. On the web, clear the site's data in your browser.
  • Leaderboard data (player ID, the link to your Play Games account, name and scores) is kept by Unity for us until we delete it at your request or close the leaderboards. BEST LEVEL and BEST BALL are all-time boards. The DAILY board is cleared every day at midnight UTC, and past days are not kept. Anonymous view-only players (a random player ID with no name and no scores) are kept until we close the leaderboards; once the game's data is cleared from your device, nothing links them to you.
  • Emails you send us are kept for up to 12 months after we've finished helping you. For a privacy request, we may keep a short record (your email address, what you asked, what we did and when) for up to 2 years, to show that we handled it.
  • Google keeps ads and Play Games data under its own privacy policy, and Cloudflare keeps its technical logs for a short time under its own policy.

Deleting your online data

In the game (Android app): on the title screen, tap LEADERBOARD, then DELETE ONLINE ACCOUNT, and confirm. The game stops posting from that device at once and opens an email to us with your player ID and leaderboard name filled in. Send that email to finish your request.

Without the game: follow the steps at soggysocks.dev/games/drop-shop/delete-data/, or email wetsocksqueries@gmail.com with the subject "Delete my Drop Shop data" and your leaderboard name.

We delete your Unity player account (your player ID, the link to your Google Play Games account and your leaderboard name) and all your scores within 30 days, and we email you when it's done. Copies in our service providers' backups are deleted on their normal schedule. If you ask by email without using the button and then play again on Android while signed in to Google Play Games, the game creates a new online account and posts your scores again. Tapping DELETE ONLINE ACCOUNT in the game avoids that, because it stops the game posting from that device.

Data that Google holds (your Play Games profile, and ads data) is controlled by Google. Manage it at play.google.com/games/profile, myaccount.google.com and myadcenter.google.com, and with your device's advertising ID settings (see Your advertising ID on Android).

Security

Your save is kept in the game's private storage, which Android and iOS keep separate from other apps (in the web version, your browser keeps it for the game's site only). Everything the game and our websites send is encrypted in transit (TLS/HTTPS). Access to the leaderboard data in Unity's dashboard is limited to us. No way of storing or sending data is perfectly secure, so we keep what we hold to the minimum the leaderboards need.

Children

Drop Shop is not directed to children under 13 (or under the minimum age for consenting to online services where you live, which is up to 16 in some European countries), and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children. Leaderboard names are public. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has posted to the leaderboards or sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it. We can also explain how to reset the advertising ID and remove the game's data from the device.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it. Email wetsocksqueries@gmail.com and we will reply within 30 days. To protect other players, we may ask you to show that a leaderboard account is yours, for example with a screenshot of the LEADERBOARD screen showing your own place. A request sent with DELETE ONLINE ACCOUNT from your device already includes your player ID.

EEA, UK and Switzerland

You have the right to access your personal data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, receive it in a portable format, and withdraw your consent at any time (this doesn't affect anything that happened before). We will reply within one month, or tell you within that month if a complex request needs up to two more months.

If you are unhappy with how we handled your data, please tell us first: we will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days and look into it. You can also complain to your local data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office: ico.org.uk).

For the data that Google's software collects for Google's own purposes (ads, Play Games), Google's own tools are the fastest way: myadcenter.google.com and myaccount.google.com. We are happy to help either way.

US state privacy rights

Some US states, such as California, Colorado, Connecticut and Virginia, give residents rights over their personal information, including the right to know about, access, correct and delete it, to get a copy of it, and to opt out of its "sale", "sharing" or use for "targeted advertising".

We don't sell personal information for money. However, when Google uses your advertising ID and other data to show personalized ads, some state laws may treat that as a "sale", "sharing" or "targeted advertising". To opt out:

  • On your device: delete your advertising ID (see Your advertising ID on Android). This stops personalized ads based on it in this game and in other apps. Resetting the ID only replaces it with a new one.
  • In the game: where the game offers it in your location, SETTINGS > PRIVACY CHOICES also lets you opt out for Drop Shop.

To use your other rights, contact us. You may use an authorized agent, and we may ask to confirm that they act for you. If we turn down your request, you can appeal by replying to our answer. We will not treat you differently for using your privacy rights.

Your advertising ID on Android

Android gives every device a resettable advertising ID that apps use for ads. You can reset or delete it at any time. The exact menu varies by device and Android version, but it is usually one of these:

  • Most phones: Settings > Privacy > Ads, Settings > Security & privacy > More privacy settings > Ads, or Settings > Google > Ads, then Delete advertising ID.
  • Some older phones: Settings > Google > Ads > Reset advertising ID or Opt out of Ads Personalization.

Once the advertising ID is deleted, apps, including this game, no longer receive it, and ads personalization based on it stops. The same Ads menu may also include Ad privacy settings for Android's Privacy Sandbox ad features.

Permissions the Android app uses

  • Internet and network state: for ads and Google's consent message, Google Play Games, and the online leaderboards.
  • Advertising ID and Android ad services: used by Google's ads software for ads, measurement and fraud prevention.
  • Vibration: for haptic feedback at big moments in the game. Turn it off with SETTINGS > VIBRATION.
  • Wake lock and foreground service: used by Google's software for short background tasks.

The game does not request location, camera, microphone, contacts or storage permissions. Google Play Games adds no permissions.

Where your data is processed

We are based in the United States. Unity, Google and Cloudflare may process data in the United States and other countries. When data from the EEA, the UK or Switzerland is transferred, they use legal safeguards: Unity uses the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK and Swiss equivalents), and Google and Cloudflare rely on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (and its UK and Swiss extensions) and Standard Contractual Clauses (Google: policies.google.com/privacy/frameworks).

Changes to this policy

If we change how the game handles information (for example by adding purchases, releasing the iPhone and iPad version, or adding online features), we will update this policy, change the effective date at the top and publish the new version at soggysocks.dev/games/drop-shop/privacy/. If a change matters for your data, we will also let you know in the game or on soggysocks.dev. This version replaces the policy dated September 25, 2026.
